My Mind Is a Forest

Senior Solo Exhibition - University of Massachusetts Boston

Just as roots grow—expanding a tree’s connection to the earth and amplifying its size and stature—we stand individually but feed off of our surroundings, balancing wants, desires, and needs in an effort to coexist. We choose what to add to and subtract from our “ecosystem”, constantly torn between self-preservation and the preservation of our given environment.

This installation is an escape from my introversion. As an introvert, I hide behind layers. There are aspects of myself that I shield from certain interactions as a means of protection. By merging, transforming, and erasing images of trees, I take the natural world and alter photographic reality—there is no path, no resolution.
